Filter Files by Name

You can do freeform filename searches with TaskTracker. Your search can be in the scope of the current file type or all file types or any selected file types. Simply enter one or more characters in the TaskTracker Filter search field.

  1. To open the TaskTracker Filter dialog, right-click on the File List window and choose Filter Dates and Names or click Ctrl+F.

  2. In the text field, enter part of a file name and click Apply.

You can search for more than one character string at a time by using a colon (:) separator and no spaces. (TaskTracker treats commas, semicolons, and spaces literally as being commas, semicolons, and spaces in a filename.) Use the asterisk one or more times in any string for wildcards. The screenshot shows an example search of all file types for files with jpg and gif extensions (*.jpg:*.gif). This will find not just files in the GIF Image and JPEG Image types but also Deleted and Renamed files (and Network Files and Removable Files if these types are in the File Type window).

Searching All Files

You can temporarily apply a search filter to all files (all types), without selecting all files, simply by selecting All Files. (If there is no date or string filter, this option has no effect.)

Note: Select several types from the File Type window using the Ctrl or Shift key.

Saving Filters

To save a search filter so it remains active after closing the dialog, click Save. Saved filters persist till you remove the Save selection - even after restarting TaskTracker. Look for "[Filtered]" in the window caption.
